Function: tools for the TERRAL grape hoe weeder frame are non-animated tools that are used to assist and guide the weeder chassis, and/or to work the soil. They are used in conjunction with the grape hoe weeder to maintain the soil at the foot of the vine or the interrow. Maintaining the soil at the foot of the vine so that it remains clear and free of weeds increases vine yield, since the weeds will not have to compete for resources from the soil. TERRAL non-animated tools help to quickly eradicate weeds growing under the vines, without having to resort to phytopharmaceutical products.

Use: The tools for grape hoe weeder frames work in conjunction with the weeders and can be used throughout the year to keep the soil at the foot of the vine clean. However, they will be more in demand from March to July. Some tools are more suited to certain types of soil; each of them is designed for a specific kind of soil. However, using them on very hard soils is not recommended, as this could damage the machine and the vines.

How it works Each tool meets a need:

• The iron wheel stabilises the frame and is used to adjust the working height on hard or stony terrain
• The tyre wheel is used to stabilise the frame and adjust the working height in loose, non-gritty soil
• The coulter is used to stabilise the frame and to “open up” the field before the using the grape hoe weeder. It creates a small furrow and thoroughly loosens the soil as it passes over it. It is usually mounted just in front of the weeder, but it is also possible to attach several of them to the frame so that the entire width of the interrow may be ploughed.
• The triangular ploughshare is used in the same way as the coulter. It doesn’t go as deep, but covers a larger surface. It does not work well on stony or clay soils
• The smooth disc also stabilises the frame and cultivates the soil. However, depending on its direction, it will not create a furrow, and therefore will not “open” the soil before the weeder passes over it. It splits the soil without turning it over.
• The serrated disc has exactly the same function as the smooth disc. It is simply more suitable for clay soils, as its teeth allow the soil to fall off the tool.
• Lump breaker discs have several uses. These can be used in the same way as a smooth disc: to guide and stabilise the frame, or they can be used to earth up the soil at the foot of the vine. This is why they are equipped with more settings than the other tools.

The multiple settings allow it to adapt to all types of vineyard.

Hitch: The tools for TERRAL grape hoe weeder frames are all fixed by a 50 x 50 flange on the beam of the frame. They are used in conjunction with grape hoe weeder tools.
